by Mohammed Nabeel 20 Jul 2023

Introduction.

Iron-on patches have emerged as a popular fashion trend, bringing a delightful blend of nostalgia and creativity to clothing and accessories. These versatile decorative pieces offer an easy and fun way to express individuality and revamp any garment. In this blog post, we will explore the charm and versatility of iron-on patches, from their history to their modern-day popularity and creative applications.

How to apply iron on patches?

Materials Needed:
  • Iron on Patch
  • Household Iron
  • Thin cotton cloth or a pressing cloth (e.g., cotton handkerchief or dish towel)
  • Flat, heat-resistant surface (ironing board or table)
  • Step-by-Step Instructions:
  • Decide where you want to place the iron-on patch on your garment. Lay it flat on a surface to mark the exact position or use pins to hold it in place temporarily.
  • Turn on your iron and set it to the cotton or medium heat setting. Make sure to turn off the steam function as it can interfere with the adhesion process.
  • If the garment is wrinkled, iron it beforehand to create a smooth surface for applying the patch. Lay the garment flat on the ironing board or table with the area where the patch will be placed facing up.
  • Place the iron-on patch on the desired spot with the adhesive side down. Make sure it is centered and aligned properly according to your design preferences
  • To prevent direct contact between the iron and the patch, place a thin cotton cloth or a pressing cloth over the patch. This additional layer acts as a buffer and safeguards both the patch and the iron's soleplate.
  • Press the iron firmly and evenly over the pressing cloth. Apply continuous pressure for about 15 to 20 seconds to ensure proper adhesion.
  • Gently lift one corner of the pressing cloth to see if the patch has adhered to the fabric. If it hasn't, apply more heat and pressure for a few more seconds.
  • Once the patch is securely attached, remove the iron and pressing cloth. Allow the area to cool completely before moving or wearing the garment.
  • Now, you have successfully applied the iron-on patch to your garment, and you're ready to showcase your personalized style!
